Friends Meeting School
Few students can match the hours Madison Pointer devotes to animal rescue, food drives, class plays, the school gardens, and other caring activities. But there’s more to why we selected Madison: her unstinting commitment to the core values of justice, equality, and compassion, qualities essential to creating peace.
Linganore High School
Ashley Zink is an outstanding student leader. As a sophomore she led the “It Gets Better” club and represented Linganore in the Rachel’s Challenge workshop, where she shared her experiences in living with alopecia. This year she is helping start a program to educate students about distracted driving. She brings enthusiasm and insight to the group.
Oakdale High School
Michelle Sutanto is a participant in the Oakdale High School Leadership program and is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) and her church youth group. Michelle views herself as a member of the global community and is dedicated to helping its members regardless of where they live.
Urbana High School
Rachel Rosenfeld strives to educate her peers on being better people. She has worked on the “spread the word to end the word” campaign and has supported the Special Olympics of Maryland. She has also worked with her peers to raise funds for families struggling with cancer. She strives to be the best person she can be and works with her peers to find a way to treat others as equals.
